MiCA transition ends in Bulgaria: only licensed providers may serve clients
Since 1 July 2026, only crypto-asset service providers licensed under MiCA may serve clients in Bulgaria: firms licensed by the FSC, or firms licensed in another EU country that have notified the FSC. ESMA's register, as updated on 9 September 2026, lists four Bulgarian providers. Clients of unlicensed firms should move their assets.
Bulgaria adopts DAC8: crypto providers will report user data to the NRA
On 9 September 2026 Bulgaria's Parliament amended the Tax and Social Security Procedure Code to bring in DAC8, the EU rules on automatic exchange of crypto-asset information. The rules apply from 1 January 2026. Crypto providers will report users' identity, tax residence and yearly transaction totals to the NRA by 30 June of the following year.
