Compare side by side

Bybit is a crypto exchange group. People in Bulgaria use its European business, Bybit EU, which runs under an Austrian licence on its own website, bybit.eu. This review covers the entities and licences, how buying, selling and withdrawing work, the published fees, custody, support, the card, the February 2025 theft and Trustpilot ratings. Facts were checked on 16 September 2026. For a side-by-side table, see our Bybit comparison.

Entities and licences

  • Bybit EU GmbH, Donau-City-Straße 7, 1220 Vienna, commercial register number FN 636180i. Austria's Financial Market Authority authorised it as a crypto-asset service provider under Article 63 of MiCA by decision dated 28 May 2025. The authorisation covers custody and administration of crypto-assets, exchange of crypto-assets for funds, exchange of crypto-assets for other crypto-assets, placing and transfer services. ESMA's interim register lists Bulgaria among its host countries.
  • Bybit Payments GmbH, FN 636179h. The FMA granted it an e-money institution licence on 4 August 2026, also covering payment services including payment transactions, issuing and acquiring. In its press release Bybit said launch dates for products under this licence would be communicated later.

The FSC's list of Article 65 notifications includes Bybit EU GmbH for Bulgaria, with a start date of 28 May 2025. Bybit says Bybit EU serves customers across the EEA except Malta, and its homepage states that it operates from Austria through a local legal entity.

How buying, selling and withdrawing work

Adding euro. You top up by SEPA bank transfer to Bybit EU's details with a Bybit reference code. The transfer must come from an account in your own verified name. Minimum and maximum deposits depend on your verification level; the guide does not publish the amounts.

One-Click Buy and Sell. You can buy with bank cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and ZEN.COM, or use your euro balance. The fee is built into a spread, and Bybit EU says it does not charge a fee for the payment method used.

Spot trading. Order book trading on pairs such as USDC/EUR, with maker and taker fees.

Withdrawing euro. The guide describes withdrawing euro back to your verified bank account by SEPA. We found no option to pay a third party's bank account. Bybit's Help Center says current fiat withdrawal fees are shown in the app.

IBAN. There is no IBAN in the customer's name today. The e-money licence of Bybit Payments GmbH could allow new account products, but none is announced as live.

Stablecoins

Bybit EU's deposit and withdrawal status page, checked on 16 September 2026, lists USDC and EURC with normal status. USDT does not appear on that list. Trading pairs use USDC, for example USDC/EUR. Our guide to USDC vs USDT explains why EU platforms handle the two differently.

Custody

Bybit EU holds client crypto-assets under its authorisation for custody and administration. You can withdraw to a wallet you control if you prefer self-custody.

Card

The Bybit Card is a Mastercard for users with identity verification level 2 and proof of address from an eligible EEA country. It is issued by Harmoniie SAS, an e-money institution authorised by France's ACPR, with Moorwand Ltd. Bybit EU lists a 1% FX fee on top of the Mastercard rate and a 0.9% crypto conversion fee on top of spot fees. Whether Bulgaria is an eligible country is not published.

Support and language

Bybit EU's homepage advertises 24/7 customer support. Support for EU users runs through tickets and complaints in the Help Center. The website offers German, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Romanian, Italian, French, Dutch, Czech, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Greek, Finnish, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian, but the Bulgarian address redirected to English on 16 September 2026. Bulgarian support is not published, and we found no Bybit office in Bulgaria.

Regulatory actions and public incidents

  • Theft of about USD 1.5 billion, February 2025. The FBI stated that North Korea was responsible for the theft of approximately USD 1.5 billion in virtual assets from Bybit on or about 21 February 2025, and referred to the activity as TraderTraitor. Status: attribution published by the FBI. The notice concerns the Bybit exchange; how Bybit EU GmbH customers were affected is not published.
  • EU regulators. An enforcement action against Bybit EU GmbH is not published in the sources we reviewed. The FMA pages we cite concern the grant of licences.

Trustpilot

On 16 September 2026 the Bybit EU profile on Trustpilot, for www.bybit.eu, showed a TrustScore of 1.4 from 394 reviews. Trustpilot shows the profile as claimed in August 2025.

Who Bybit EU suits

Bybit EU suits people in Bulgaria who want to trade on an order book at 0.25% or less, buy with a card or wallet app, and use a crypto Mastercard, and who are comfortable with the exchange holding their assets. Buyers who use One-Click Buy should note the higher spread at night and on weekends. It is less suited to receiving salary or client payments into an IBAN in your own name, paying suppliers by bank transfer, or getting help in Bulgarian.

Alternatives

Other MiCA-authorised platforms passported into Bulgaria include Kraken, through Payward Europe Solutions Limited in Ireland, and Coinbase Luxembourg S.A. If you want a EUR IBAN and USD account details in your own name, with incoming money turned into USDC in a self-custody wallet and payouts to any bank, xChange.bg offers that, with accounts and conversions provided by the regulated partner Bridge, a Stripe company.
