Compare side by side

Bitpanda is a Vienna-based retail investment platform that offers crypto, stocks, ETFs and precious metals in one app. This review covers what matters to someone in Bulgaria: the Bitpanda companies and their licences, how money and assets move in and out, fees as Bitpanda publishes them, custody, support and the 2026 MiCA fine. Facts were checked on 16 September 2026 against Bitpanda's legal notice, helpdesk, limits and support pages, the ESMA register, the Austrian FMA and named press reports.

Companies and licences

Bitpanda's legal notice lists several group companies:

  • Bitpanda GmbH, Stella-Klein-Löw Weg 17, 1020 Vienna, commercial register FN 569240 v, authorised as a crypto-asset service provider under MiCA with the FMA. The ESMA register gives the authorisation date as 9 April 2025 and lists custody, exchange of crypto for funds and for other crypto, execution of orders, placing, reception and transmission of orders, and transfer services. Bulgaria is in its cross-border list.
  • Bitpanda Asset Management GmbH, Berlin, authorised under MiCA by BaFin on 24 January 2025, according to the ESMA register.
  • Bitpanda Payments GmbH, Vienna, with an e-money and payment services licence from the FMA.
  • Bitpanda Financial Services GmbH, Vienna, an investment services provider supervised by the FMA.
  • Bitpanda Metals GmbH, Vienna.

Bulgaria is ticked in Bitpanda's list of countries supported for verification. The published addresses are in Vienna and Berlin; a Bulgarian office is not published.

How buying, selling and withdrawing work

Adding money. Bitpanda's limits page shows SEPA, Apple Pay, PayPal, Mastercard and EPS, an Austrian method, for euro deposits. Credit card deposits for verified accounts are limited to €20,000 a day, €300,000 a month and €5,000,000 in total.

Buying and selling. The minimum trade is €1. Bitpanda includes its premium in the quoted price, so you receive the exact amount shown on the order confirmation page. The trade summary shows the offer price, the fee and the final price.

Withdrawing euro. SEPA is the withdrawal method for euro. A regular fiat withdrawal goes only to your own bank account, with SEPA limits of €5,000,000 a day and a month for verified accounts.

Paying other people. Bitpanda Pay sends euro from your EUR wallet to a third-party bank account, such as friends, family, merchants or a landlord. Transfers go out from a pooled bank account in Bitpanda's name, so Bitpanda appears as the sender. Bitpanda states that it does not provide personalised IBANs.

Stablecoins. The limits page lists wallet deposits and withdrawals for USDC on Arbitrum, Avalanche C-Chain, Base, BSC, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, Solana and Stellar; EURC on Ethereum and Stellar; EURCV on Ethereum and Solana; and AllUnity EUR (EURAU) on Ethereum.

Support and language

Bitpanda's support page lists live chat around the clock, with instant AI answers and one-tap escalation to a human, and WhatsApp support started from the app. Bitpanda says support is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with an average live response time of 45 seconds, and that human support is available in 12 languages, without listing them. Scheduled calls run Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, in English, German, French and Italian. The website has no Bulgarian version, and whether Bulgarian-language support is offered is not published.

Regulatory actions

  • Austria, 2026. The FMA announced on 14 August 2026 a fine of €70,000 on Bitpanda GmbH for breaches of MiCA, as reported by CoinDesk and The Block. Bitpanda failed to submit a crypto-asset white paper at least 20 working days before publication, distributed a marketing communication before the white paper was published, and left required disclosures and contact information out of a marketing communication. The FMA said this was its first published legally binding MiCA penalty decision. Status: final. Bitpanda said the findings related exclusively to timing and formal specifications, and its CASP authorisation remains active. Sources: FMA notice, CoinDesk, The Block.

The Bitpanda Card

The Bitpanda Card is a debit card usable wherever Visa is accepted, funded from assets you hold on Bitpanda, including crypto, metals or euro. Bitpanda says it is available to verified users resident in a euro area country; Bulgaria joined the euro area on 1 January 2026. All users receive 1% cashback on eligible purchases paid with crypto, and the card works with Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Who Bitpanda suits

Bitpanda fits investors in Bulgaria who want crypto, stocks, ETFs and metals in one regulated app, with free SEPA transfers, a €1 minimum trade and several euro stablecoins. It fits less well if you need an IBAN in your own name, want to pay other people in larger sums than €10,000 per transfer, need USD rails, or want Bulgarian-language service.

Alternatives

Other MiCA-authorised options for Bulgarian users include Revolut, whose crypto arm is licensed in Cyprus, and Crypto.com and OKX, both regulated in Malta.
