OKX review 2026: what Bulgarian users get from OKX Europe
By xChange.bg team
Published
OKX is a global crypto exchange that serves customers in the European Economic Area through companies in Malta. This review covers what a customer in Bulgaria deals with: the European entities and their licences, how euro moves in and out, fees as OKX publishes them, custody, support and the regulatory record of the wider group. Facts were checked on 16 September 2026 against OKX Europe's help centre, fee pages and disclosures, the ESMA register, Malta's FIAU and the US Department of Justice.
Companies and licences
OKX Europe Limited is the company behind spot trading, Convert and EUR accounts for EEA customers. OKX's disclosure lists it as OKX EUROPE LTD, Malta company number C88193, with a registered office at Piazzetta Business Plaza, Ghar il-Lembi Street, Sliema. The Malta Financial Services Authority authorised it as a MiCA crypto-asset service provider on 27 January 2025. The ESMA register lists its services as custody, operation of a trading platform, exchange of crypto for funds and for other crypto, execution of orders, placing, reception and transmission of orders, portfolio management and transfer services, and names Bulgaria among its cross-border countries. Its former name, used in Malta's 2025 penalty notice, is OKCoin Europe Limited.
OKX Europe Markets Limited, Malta company number C 95813, is a separate investment firm licensed by the MFSA under the Investment Services Act. It offers X-Perps expiry futures and tokenised equities.
A Bulgarian office is not published on OKX's pages. The EU address OKX Europe publishes is its registered office in Sliema.
How buying, selling and withdrawing work
Depositing euro. OKX Europe's cash deposit FAQ lists SEPA bank transfer (standard and Instant), Visa or Mastercard cards issued by EEA banks, Easy transfer, PayPal, Bancontact and iDEAL. SEPA deposits go to what OKX calls "your unique OKX account details". OKX says SEPA deposits from third-party sources, including e-wallets such as PayPal, Wise or Airwallex, are not supported and will be returned. SEPA Instant deposits work within a €100,000 limit.
Buying and selling. You can use Convert, a simple buy and sell tool, or the spot order book.
Withdrawing euro. SEPA withdrawals arrive instantly or within up to 2 business days. OKX asks you to verify ownership of the receiving account and says the name on your OKX account should match the name on your bank account. Deposit and withdrawal limits are shown on each payment method in the app; OKX's help articles do not publish EUR minimums.
Stablecoins. OKX says it supports two USD stablecoins for EEA users that it describes as MiCA-compliant, USDC and USDG. USDT is not tradeable for EEA users; USDT deposits arrive frozen and must be returned through support. OKX announced a EURC/USDC spot pair on 21 October 2024.
Fees as published
| Service | OKX Europe fee |
|---|---|
| SEPA deposit | No OKX fee; your bank may charge |
| SEPA withdrawal | No OKX fee; your bank may charge |
| Card deposit | Varies by country of residence, shown before you confirm |
| Convert (buy, sell) | No separate trading fee; spread up to 1.00% on all pairs, including market maker fees |
| Spot order book, regular tier | 0.08% maker, 0.10% taker |
| OKX Card EEA | No transaction or FX fee; 0.1% market spread on stablecoin to fiat |
The spread figure comes from OKX's disclosure dated 11 August 2026, which presents 1.00% as a maximum. The regular spot tier applies to users with assets of €0-100,000 or 30-day volume of €0-1,000,000. OKX shows separate fees for stablecoin pairs on its fee page; those are not covered here.
Custody
OKX holds your assets. The OKX Europe Markets terms state that OKX Europe Limited holds client fiat and crypto and handles deposits and withdrawals, and custody is among the services in its MiCA authorisation. Moving coins to your own wallet means a crypto withdrawal from the exchange.
Support and language
OKX lists six support channels: live chat, ticket submission, phone support, email, the help centre and official social media. It says live chat is available 24/7 and supports multiple languages, without listing them; tickets and email are answered within 24-48 hours. The okx.com language list has no Bulgarian version. Bulgarian users can use the English EEA site or other listed languages such as Romanian, Polish, German or Czech. Whether support is available in Bulgarian is not published.
Regulatory actions
- Malta, 2025. On 1 April 2025, the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit imposed an administrative penalty of €1,054,269 and a follow-up directive on OKCoin Europe Limited, now OKX Europe Limited. The breaches of Malta's anti-money-laundering regulations were found in an onsite compliance examination in April 2023 and covered the business risk assessment, customer risk assessment, customer due diligence and transaction monitoring, among others. The FIAU notice acknowledges OKX's proactive remediation. Source: FIAU publication notice.
- United States, 2025. On 24 February 2025, the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York announced that Aux Cayes Fintech Co. Ltd, doing business as OKX, a Seychelles-based entity, pleaded guilty to one count of operating an unlicensed money transmitting business and agreed to penalties totalling more than USD 504 million. This case concerned the Seychelles entity, not OKX Europe Limited. Source: US Department of Justice.

Who OKX suits
OKX fits active traders in Bulgaria who want low costs: no SEPA fees, a Convert spread capped at 1%, order book fees from 0.08% and access to derivatives through a licensed investment firm. It also suits people who want a crypto card that spends stablecoins. It fits less well if you need support or a website in Bulgarian, want to pay other people's bank accounts directly, or prefer to hold stablecoins outside an exchange.
Alternatives
Other MiCA-authorised options for Bulgarian users include Crypto.com, also regulated in Malta, Bitpanda, regulated in Austria, and Revolut, whose crypto arm is licensed in Cyprus.
