DigitalAssist review 2026: crypto ATMs, fees, licence and limits
By xChange.bg team
Published
DigitalAssist is a crypto ATM network: machines in shopping centres and hotels where you swap euro banknotes for crypto or the other way round. In July 2026 its operator received a MiCA licence from Bulgaria's Financial Supervision Commission (FSC), one of four companies in the FSC register of licensed crypto-asset service providers on 16 September 2026. This review sets out what the company and the regulator publish, checked on 16 September 2026, without scoring the service.
Company
The operator is Digital Assist OOD, UIC 206079266, a limited liability company registered at 13 Pencho Slaveykov Blvd, entrance A, floor 1, apartment 1, Sofia (source 1). It trades under the DigitalAssist brand. On its homepage the company says it has operated since 2020, runs the largest crypto ATM network in Bulgaria and has processed more than 40,000 transactions (source 5). These are the company's own statements; we did not find independent figures for them.
Licence and register entries
The regulator authorised Digital Assist OOD as a crypto-asset service provider by decision No. 500-ДУКА of 21 July 2026 (source 1). The session record for that day lists the decision (source 4). The licence covers one MiCA service: exchange of crypto-assets for funds. It does not include custody, a trading platform or transfer services.
The company is in the FSC register of licensed providers (source 2). ESMA's interim MiCA register lists Digital Assist OOD under LEI 8755007GZKOS1VJ6BZ82, with only Bulgaria in the cross-border field of the file last modified on 9 September 2026 (source 3). The website shows the licence as No. 003-ДУКА/21.07.2026 (source 5); the FSC decision number is 500-ДУКА.
How buying and selling works
Where. The homepage lists eight machines: five in Sofia (Paradise Mall, Grand Hotel Millennium, Serdika Center, Monte Casino and Ring Mall), one at Mall Plovdiv, one at Parkmart in Varna and one at Mall Galleria in Burgas (source 5). Opening hours follow the venue; two Sofia locations are open 24/7.
What. The terms list four assets: BTC, ETH, LTC and USDC (source 6, clause 2.2). USDT and EURC are not offered.
Buying. You identify yourself, scan the address of your own wallet, insert EUR banknotes and the ATM sends the crypto to that address. The amount you receive is your cash minus the 3% commission and the network fee, divided by the market price (source 7).
Selling. You send crypto from your wallet and collect EUR cash, minus the 4% commission (source 7).
By bank. After a source-of-funds declaration you can buy or sell up to EUR 15,000 by bank transfer instead of cash (source 5).
Fees as published
DigitalAssist publishes its pricing in full (source 7):
- Buy commission: 3%.
- Sell commission: 4%.
- Network fee on purchases: EUR 3 per purchase, which the company can set between EUR 1 and EUR 10 depending on network load.
- Reference rate: the real-time rate of Kraken, operated in Europe by Payward Europe Solutions.
The same commissions apply to all four assets and are also written into the terms (source 6, clause 2.7.2). A purchase of EUR 500 costs EUR 15 in commission plus the network fee, so with the standard EUR 3 network fee about EUR 482 of crypto reaches your wallet at the reference rate. No separate fee for bank-transfer payouts is published.
Limits and identity checks
The daily limit is EUR 4,990 per client (source 5). Checks rise in tiers:
- Tier 0: identification by phone number.
- Tier 1: additional identity checks once your turnover reaches EUR 990.
- Travel Rule: a form for each further EUR 990 of turnover.
Have your ID and phone with you if you plan to trade more than a small amount, and keep a record of each trade with its date and EUR amount for your tax return.
Custody
DigitalAssist does not hold crypto for clients. Purchases go directly to the wallet address you provide (source 6). That keeps you in control but also makes you responsible for the wallet: a transfer to a wrong address or on the wrong network generally cannot be reversed on the blockchain. Our guide to self-custody wallets covers backups and address checks.
Support
The terms list phone +359 886 886 844 and email [email protected], with phone support on working days from 09:00 to 18:00 (source 6, clause 12.2.1, in force from 14 July 2026). The homepage separately shows a "24/7 support" badge (source 5). There is no customer office; service happens at the machines. The website is in Bulgarian with an English version.
Public issues
We checked FSC decisions and reputable press for enforcement actions, fines or court cases involving Digital Assist OOD and found none as of 16 September 2026. The FSC record for 21 July 2026 shows a licence grant (source 4).
Who DigitalAssist suits
- People who hold euro cash and want crypto without a bank transfer.
- People who want to sell crypto and walk away with banknotes.
- Small, occasional purchases where speed and simplicity matter more than the fee.
- Users of BTC, ETH or LTC as well as USDC.
It suits less well regular or larger flows, where 3% to 4% per trade adds up, and anyone who needs a bank account in their own name, dollars or payments to third parties.
