Facts checked on
Bybit EU and xChange.bg both let people in Bulgaria turn euro into USDC and back. Bybit EU is the European arm of the Bybit crypto exchange group, licensed in Austria, with spot trading, instant buying and a card. xChange.bg gives EUR and USD account details in your own name and turns incoming money into stablecoins in a wallet you control. Facts below were checked on 16 September 2026. For a full profile, read our Bybit review.
Who each service is for
Bybit EU is run by Bybit EU GmbH from Vienna. Bybit says Bybit EU serves customers across the EEA except Malta. It suits people who want to trade crypto-assets in an exchange app, buy with a card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal, and use a crypto debit card, and who are comfortable with the exchange holding their assets and with support in English.
xChange.bg is run by Global Xchange JSC in Sofia, the team behind a Bulgarian crypto exchange since 2017, relaunched in 2026. Money sent to your EUR IBAN or USD account details becomes USDC in a self-custody wallet, and money going out lands in any bank account, yours or a recipient's. It suits freelancers, small businesses and individuals who get paid by bank transfer and want a team that speaks Bulgarian.
The differences that matter
Licence. Austria's Financial Market Authority authorised Bybit EU GmbH as a crypto-asset service provider under MiCA by decision of 28 May 2025. The licence covers custody and administration, exchange of crypto-assets for funds and for other crypto-assets, placing and transfer services. ESMA's register lists Bulgaria among its host countries. A sister company, Bybit Payments GmbH, received an e-money institution licence from the FMA on 4 August 2026. xChange.bg is a technology provider: accounts and conversions come from the regulated partner Bridge, a Stripe company.
Bank details. Bybit EU's guide says you top up euro by SEPA to Bybit's details with a Bybit reference code, from an account in your own verified name. There is no IBAN in your name today. Bybit said after the e-money licence that launch dates for new products would be communicated later. xChange.bg issues a EUR IBAN and USD account details in your own name.
Timing of fees. Bybit EU's One-Click Buy and fiat Convert fee is a spread of 1.30% in business hours and 1.80% outside them, which Bybit defines as weekdays from 10:00 PM to 8:30 AM CET and weekends. Crypto-to-crypto Convert costs 1.80%. xChange.bg charges 1.5% whenever money arrives.
Where money can go. Bybit EU's guide describes withdrawing euro back to your verified bank account. xChange.bg can pay out to a supplier's or contractor's bank account at 1.25%, and transfers between xChange.bg clients are free.
Custody. Bybit EU holds client crypto-assets under its authorisation for custody and administration. xChange.bg keeps USDC in a self-custody wallet, and xChange.bg cannot freeze your balance. Holding your own keys also means keeping access to them is up to you.
Security record. The FBI attributed the theft of about USD 1.5 billion in virtual assets from Bybit, on or about 21 February 2025, to North Korea, in the activity it calls TraderTraitor. The FBI notice concerns the Bybit group exchange; the impact on Bybit EU GmbH customers is not published.
Language. Bybit EU's site has versions in Romanian, Greek, Czech, Hungarian, Polish and other languages, but the Bulgarian address redirected to English when we checked. Its homepage advertises 24/7 support. xChange.bg supports clients in Bulgarian and English from 66 Vitosha Blvd, Sofia.
Where Bybit EU is stronger
- Cheaper spot trading. Spot pairs against euro, such as USDC/EUR, cost 0.25% for a taker at the lowest tier, with a single spot fee from 5 October 2026.
- Cheaper One-Click Buy in business hours. 1.30% against 1.5% at xChange.bg.
- More ways to pay. Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and ZEN.COM for One-Click Buy, with no separate payment method fee according to Bybit EU.
- A card today. The Bybit Card is a Mastercard for verified users with proof of address in an eligible EEA country.
- EURC as well as USDC. Bybit EU lists both, while xChange.bg is built around USDC.
- A MiCA licence from the FMA, passported to Bulgaria.
Cost example
Both sides publish a fee for turning EUR 1,000 into stablecoins. Bybit EU does not publish its current SEPA withdrawal fee outside the app, so the payout side cannot be compared in full.
| EUR 1,000 in, converted to USDC | Fee |
|---|---|
| xChange.bg, bank transfer to your IBAN | EUR 15.00 (1.5%) |
| Bybit EU One-Click Buy, business hours | EUR 13.00 (1.30% spread) |
| Bybit EU One-Click Buy, nights and weekends | EUR 18.00 (1.80% spread) |
| Bybit EU spot USDC/EUR, taker | EUR 2.50 (0.25%) |
For paying out, xChange.bg charges 1.25%, so EUR 1,000 worth of USDC costs EUR 12.50 to send to a bank. On Bybit EU, selling through One-Click Sell costs the same 1.30% or 1.80% spread, plus a SEPA withdrawal fee shown in the app. Moving stablecoins from Bybit to your own wallet adds a withdrawal fee that is not included above. Run your own figures in the stablecoin fee calculator.
